PLR Payments and Statements – February 26 Update

All registered authors will receive an acknowledgement of registration in the next few days.
If you are resident outside the Republic of Ireland you should also receive, in the same envelope, a notice asking you to tell us how you wish to be payed if you are due a payment for 2009.
There are two choices
Option 1: You may receive a payment through your collecting society – you will be liable for any fees deducted by the collecting society.
Option 2: You may receive a payment by Euro cheque – you will be liable for the bank charges.


The PLR Office has been busy processing payments for PLR Year 2009.

 

Cheques and statements to authors resident in Ireland were posted on 30th December 2009.

 

Cheques and statements to authors resident in the UK and other countries were posted on February 26th 2010.

 

ALCS made Irish PLR payments to authors who chose to be paid via ALCS
on February 15th, 2010.  Authors will receive their statements from ALCS at the start of March.
 

Please note that statements are only being sent to authors who are receiving a payment.

Please note that statements will only list books that were registered prior to October 9th, 2009.   

Books registered after that date will be included for PLR year 2010.

The Rate Per Loan for PLR Year 2009 is 13.93 cent.

The ‘most borrowed statistics’ are compiled by the PLR Office from data provided by library services around the country. The Top 10 National List of Most Borrowed Titles and Authors below is compiled using the Top 100 titles from each of the public library authorities. The data below are from January 2010.

Most Borrowed Titles in January 2010

The Official Driver Theory Test continues its dominance as our nation’s most borrowed item, with the other interesting aspects being Patricia Scanlan’s two entries in the Top 10 and Stieg Larsson’s popularity being reflected by the appearance of ‘The girl with the dragon tattoo’ at Number 7.

The enduring appeal of Francesca Simon’s Horrid Henry series continues unabated with her topping the list of Most Borrowed Author for the thirteenth successive month.

The remainder of the list is a combination of Irish popular fiction writers, the prolific crime writer James Patterson, ‘Twilight’ creator Stephenie Meyer and established children’s authors such as Roald Dahl and Roger Hargreaves.
