August: Borrowing Habits Of the Nation

 The ‘most borrowed statistics’ are compiled by the PLR Office from data provided by library services around the country. The Top 10 National List of Most Borrowed Titles and Authors below is compiled using the Top 100 titles from each of the public library authorities. The data below are from August 2009.

The Top 10 Most Borrowed Authors category is dominated again by children’s authors Francesca Simon topping the list for the eight successive month.

American Michael Connelly, author of detective novels, notably those featuring LAPD Detective Hieronymus “Harry” Bosch is featured for the first time in the Top 10 authors list at No.8.

10. Gone tomorrow – Lee Child

The Official Driver Theory Test was the most borrowed title for the sixth occasion in six months since January.

British author Lee Child’s book ‘Gone Tomorrow’ makes its first appearance in our lists at Number 10. ‘Gone Tomorrow’  is based on the adventures of a former American Military Policeman named Jack Reacher.
